Good stuff. Well made points.
Just a quick update my second article is now live. Just a short little two pager this time.
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1247728/just_what_is_a_poppy_z_brite_vampire.html?cat=38
I left the following comment on your second article:
Hi! I’m flattered and all, but despite Nikki’s obsession with the vampire buttsex in my novel LOST SOULS, I’m not actually a “vampire writer” or even much of a vampire fan. LOST SOULS was published in 1992, and it’s the only piece of fiction I have written about them. In case you or your readers are mildly curious, the vamps in LOST SOULS are not undead, but rather a separate race that can mate with humans, an idea that owes a debt to George R.R. Martin’s fine vampire novel FEVRE DREAM.
Thanks for the feedback, I was mainly poking fun at Nicky’s obsession in that one to be completely honest. I’ll need to see if I can get a hold of George R.R. Martins book, as well as yours, through the library though as I love seeing alternate takes on the vampire myth.
I really don’t get why Nicky harps on the vampire thing. Also, Self Made Man was awesome.
Also, also, the articles are A+.
I think there should be some kind of writing contest to see how much people can make off Nicky on AC and its ilk.
Doc, as I said on Lewis’s article, I think you have the reputation of being a Great Vampire Authority because you edited the Love in Vein anthologies, which have sold a kajillion copies and are beloved by goth misfit highschoolers everywhere.
