Everyone knows how Larry loves a good smackdown — when he’s the one supposedly doing it. This time, he gets a smackdown from no less a person than the estimable Nick Mamatas. The comments are great. I think my favorite is from Seraphina_Marie.
This, of course, relates back to the (possibly fake) interview that Larry allegedly did with a gaming magazine editor, who nobody seems to be able to verify as existing in any such capacity.
Note that Larry is now calling this Johnny Guerrero guy a “freelancer.” Makes it harder to trace, eh, Larry? Howzabout you point us to an issue of Gamepro that contains one of this guy’s articles, you know, just to prove you aren’t stretching the truth like a rubber band, again?
I wonder if anyone tried contact said editor about that interview…

Could Johnny Guerrero actually be Dagstine? if so, that’s the greatest giggle ever.
I’ve called bullshit before on his “Coney Island” article… I wouldn’t be surprised if he interviewed himself.
The consensus seems to be that Daggy did indeed set up that account and interview himself. That doesn’t mean we’re right, but a number of things point to it: no serious journalist would hand the guy a forum to air his grievances; the account is brand new with only one previous entry, and an explanation that he deleted a prior long-running blog; the questions sound like the kind Daggy would ask (and did when he interviewed Pacione for The Literary Bone); now he’s calling the guy a freelancer instead of an editor; Daggy’s an author, not some video/PC game wunderkind; if the guy is a frrelancer, why not mention other publications to which he’s contributed, etc.
My next guess is that Larry will backpedal, and say the guy only submitted an article to Gamepro.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he did. That’s what he always does when he’s caught in his own lie.
The fact that he did not allow comments and yet thanked people for their support is a lot like “people support me in email.”
If the fellow really did have supporters, he would have allowed comments so that they would be welcomed to the new blog.
I wrote about googling Johnny in my blog. The Guerrero sounded familiar; however I am probably mistaken about my original thought of Johnny being a real person.
Johnny Guerrero is some sort of musician.
