I should note that in the blurb for Mr. Bernoudy’s book, he describes the complainant’s testimony in this matter as “lies that resulted in his felony conviction.”
The math says you are a liar. His conviction was in 1988 and it is 2008 now, that was 21 years ago. (His crime was in 1987, the conviction in 1988.)
If that is true, he was convicted of a sex crime when he was 10 years old and the girl was 6?

I never knew that Mr. Bernoudy was afflicted with Intermittant Explosive Butthurt Disorder (IEBD). Don’t bother looking for a description of that in the DSM-IV, though. Although, watching Dagstine and Pacione and other nitwits like Bernoudy melt down recently gives me the IEDB may have earned a place in that venerated psychological tome.
Jeez… As a former Math Major, I find Mr. Bernoudy highly lacking in basic math skills. I’d shun him for that alone, if not for the fact that he’s been acting like an unprofessional twerp.

As to the child molester thing, that’s an awfully big mess. That just goes to show you that you know the person before you sleep with them. I mean, if I found some random person, I would MOST DEFINITELY NOT have sex with them. I mean, gosh; wouldn’t you at least have coffee and biscuits first?

I think that’s a typo or a reporting error in the Marshall paper, actually. The Louisiana court documents seem to indicate that his conviction was in 1998.

And I’m no expert on reading the site I just gave, but if she was 16 and it happened in ‘98, then he was about 21. She would be about 26 now, not 28. Unless the age given (16) was at the time of the disposition, in which case she’d be younger.

It’s my guess that she was 15 at the time it happened.
Given the way the statute is structured, it seems like her being 15 would be the likeliest scenario that would result in a felony charge.
In any case, Mr. Bernoudy claims (in the blurb for his book) that she was lying.

If she was lying about an incident occurring, then why is he saying it occurred?
If you look at the blurb for his book, Memoirs of a Cheater, he refers to “the woman who lied and eventually resulted in him being arrested and receiving a felony conviction.”
I thought he (or a friend) picked him up at a bar? How would she get into a bar in ‘98 unless she had a fake ID? Or…

Two divorces, a conviction that causes him to have to register as a sex offender and a book publishing company that is augering into the dirt through bad and possibly deceptive business practices.

There is a picture of his father (Michael Bernoudy Sr.) in his other book – “Negro in Nam.” If that’s not the same man from the registry website, then they’re twins.

Oh, dear. Poor guy. I think I agree with priceless1 and IceCreamEmpress.
No, due to threats from people who contacted me at my work my only association with Blu Phi’er now is as an author. I feel like I might be letting some other authors down, but I have to think of my family and their well being first, and if I was recieving threats within hours of making it public that I was going to be helping BPP, that is something I can’t deal with.
So um… I wonder why Enck hasn’t said anything about Michael putting all the blame on him yet.

Frankly, I think you made the right decision, but when people like Victoria Strauss and others who have been in the business a long time cautioned you over on Absolute Write, that alone should have given you pause.

I’m truly amazed that anyone would threaten you, but then again, I’ve received a number of threats from people like Pacione and Dagstine, and so has Cussedness. With those two, though, it’s normally because they’re feeling a little butthurt over something that was said about them.
